What Is Reiki?

Wikipedia defines Reiki as...

"... a spiritual practice developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. The teaching was continued and adapted by various teachers. It uses a technique commonly called palm healing as a form of complementary and alternative medicine and is sometimes classified as oriental medicine by some professional bodies. Through the use of this technique, practitioners believe that they are transferring universal energy (reiki) in the form of ki through the palms that allows for self-healing and a state of equilibrium."

About Me...

My name is Garry Hill and I am originally from Kentucky. I received my Reiki Master training from Samara Anjelae in Lexington, KY in 2006. In 2009, I became a licensed massage therapist in the state of Florida. In September of 2011, I trained with William Rand and received my Karuna Reiki Master training.

I knew as soon as I received my first Reiki session, that I wanted to learn more. I remember opening my eyes during the treatment, because it felt like she was drawing on my chest, but her hands were at least a foot away from me. Even now, I am still in constant awe at feeling something that I cannot see. For example, sometimes when my hands are six inches from the body, I feel a pressure that feels like I am trying to push two magnets together the wrong way, so I back off until it feels comfortable. I feel that it is important for everyone to understand that Reiki is about wholeness. The energy naturally seeks balance. So, my job as a therapist is just to find the areas of the body that allow the energy to flow. The Reiki just happens.
